Bringing Communities Together Through Rhythm
Sustaining Rhythms provides inclusive drumming and rhythm experiences for community groups, organisations and events throughout Western Australia.
Rhythm has a unique ability to bring people together.
Regardless of age, background, culture, ability or musical experience, participants can quickly become part of a shared musical experience and contribute to something meaningful.
No musical experience is required.
All instruments are supplied.
Programs are delivered by arrangement for community organisations, local governments, libraries, support services, neighbourhood centres and special events.
Connection Through Participation
At Sustaining Rhythms, the focus is not on performance.
The focus is on participation.
Community rhythm experiences create opportunities for people to:
- Connect with others
- Build relationships
- Express creativity
- Strengthen community spirit
- Experience belonging
- Share positive experiences
- Develop confidence and participation
Everyone is welcome to contribute at their own level.
There are no auditions, no musical requirements and no expectation of previous experience.
The emphasis is on inclusion, enjoyment and connection.
Why Rhythm Works
Rhythm is often described as a universal language.
We experience rhythm every day through our heartbeat, breathing, speech and movement.
When people create rhythm together they are naturally encouraged to:
- Listen
- Cooperate
- Communicate
- Create
- Support one another
- Stay present in the moment
Many groups are surprised at how quickly rhythm can transform a room full of strangers into a connected and engaged community.

Building Stronger Communities
Strong communities are built through shared experiences and meaningful connections.
A rhythm circle provides a space where people can listen to one another, cooperate, contribute and celebrate participation.
The experience often creates opportunities for:
- New friendships
- Greater social connection
- Increased confidence
- Community engagement
- Positive communication
- Shared achievement
Many participants leave feeling more connected than when they arrived.
Inspired by Community Drum Circle Facilitation
Glenn’s facilitation approach has been influenced by extensive training in community drum circle facilitation, including advanced facilitator and mentor training through the Village Music Circles approach.
This participatory style of facilitation encourages inclusion, creativity and shared leadership rather than musical performance.
The aim is not to create perfect music.
The aim is to create meaningful human connection through rhythm.
