Takari PS After School Drum Club

Sustaining Rhythms offers a whole term (10 weeks) After School Drum Club, on Thursday afternoons, at Takari Primary School, during Term 3 2019.

We all want the best for our children.

Listening to, and especially making music, has been show to stimulate areas all over the brain, particularly those associated with reading, math and emotional development in children.

Hand drumming is perhaps the easiest entry into making music.

It is an excellent way for children to:

  • improve listening skills and attention to task
  • improve memory, spatial intelligence and IQ
  • develop self-awareness and self-esteem
  • develop self-control, patience, cooperation and coping skills
  • develop hand and eye co-ordination
  • develop motor skills, right/left hand co-ordination, and hand/eye coordination
  • balance right and left hemispheres of the brain

During Drum Club, your children will:

  • learn traditional cultural rhythms and chants
  • play rhythm games to teach rhythm and musicality
  • create in-the-moment rhythms with drum and percussion
  • learn teamwork, facilitation and leadership skills
  • prepare a performance for parents and friends (optional)
  • most of all, have fun

Cost: $10 per week, paid in advance per term of 10 weeks ($100).

Important Terms and Conditions

The minimum group size is 10 children, if this minimum is not met it is at the discretion of Sustaining Rhythms whether to proceed with the offered Drum Club, or cancel. If the Drum Club series or sessions are canceled by Sustaining Rhythms, then fees will be refunded pro rata. I am sorry, but there will be no refunds for children who miss  sessions.
